John McSame's Day Off
Written by Chet
Thursday, 04 September 2008

4 More YearsI'm going to come right out and say it:  John McCain used the GOP convention audience as a crutch tonight.  He lost the crowd about 3 minutes into his speech.  You have to give the crowd some credit though.  Even though McSame's talk was incredibly lame and un-inispirational, many in the crowd -- besides the yawning people -- really worked hard to make it sound like they were fired up.  That's acting.

And how about the guy with the signs?!?  How did that guy get in the building?

And the two -- yes two -- Code Pinkers.  I love how the Republicans have figured out that the way to drown out peaceful demonstrators is to chant "U.S.A.  U.S.A.  U.S.A."  Does anybody else see the irony in Republicans using the name of our country to suppress what our country stands for?

Prediction:  underwhelming bump in the polls through next week.  After that, game on.

Update: X1 --Adam

Joe Biden decided to go shooting his mouth off at the Republicans...

And that, my friends, is why Barack picked Joe Biden to be his running mate.  To go out there and take a sledgehammer to the "Republic" attack machine

I think the telling chant that shows what the Republicans think our country stands for: DRILL, BABY, DRILL!

Drilling
I'm not against having drilling be part of a comprehensive energy plan (for now), but I am against "drill, baby, drill" be the national mantra. It's the energy-policy equivalent to "bring it on." It's stupid, tough-guy bar talk where a well-reasoned, well thought out plan and policy would serve us all so much better.

Peaceful Protester
Hey Chet:

You seem to think that "peaceful" protests include the right to disturb and disrupt someone else's ability to conduct their affairs. I wonder if you would feel the same if the protesters showed up at a local school and disrupted a public program? Or how about showing up at a NPL meeting?

I lose any sympathy for any protester when the protester violates the rights of others in the name of exercising his right to express himself.

I note that its people from the left -- who supposedly believe "war is not the answer," who group in mobs, riot, and hurl foul substances on innocent bystanders (what's up with carrying urine in a bottle?).

Who is the censor -- Convention organizer's who wish to express their message without interruption, or the "peaceful" protesters who believe they have to interrupt other's speech because their cause is "right."

I hardly think our country is based on the right of idiots to act liked spoiled children.

But I understand why you think so -- cause the ends justify the means, unless they don't. . . . .

my friend just got back from peaceful protesting @ RNC
Don't forget there was peaceful protesting at the DNC as well. And, as always, it's the few schmo's who muck it up for those who are really their to try to get their word out through peaceful protesting. The "anarchists" were just a bunch of testosteroned-up a-holes who were out to mess it up for both sides. They were far from Democrats or Republicans.

Even though he did cause a stir, I admire and appreciate the protesting in the upper deck from the US Marine who held up the sign "McCain is Against Veterans" -- it's a harsh point, but it's true and I applaud the young man for doing it.

The Code Pink ladies... ehhhhh... all I was thinking at that point was "please quit it so that he finishes his speech sooner so I can watch the Daily Show."

Part of that statement kind of reminds you of some who work at WSI doesn't it?

BTW our country was founded on the fredom of speach, so let McWhatshisname talk over those trying to tell him what they think to since he does NOT listen to the american people.

Left the last sentence hanging too, kind of like John Halvorson!

You should add an edit delay choice on your comments box for people posting. That way we can edit our boo boo's. I am not sure if they have a plugin like that for your format but they do for wordpress. The one I have set up give the person posting five minutes to edit their post. Just an idea, since I screw up alot...guess I should use spell check, but that would take time. smilies/cheesy.gif
