Goin' To Denver
Written by Chet
Wednesday, 14 May 2008

Later today the Democratic National Convention Committee will announce that NorthDecoder.com will be the one and only credentialed blog from North Dakota at the convention in late August.   Here's a snippet from the e-mail I just received:

[M]embers of the State Blogger Corps will be seated alongside their delegations at the Convention.  You’ll literally have one of the best seats in the house.  And we expect that you’ll share that up-front view with your online community of readers and other bloggers.  Together, we’ll make sure this Democratic Convention is seen and experienced online in more ways than ever before.

Let’s start with some content you can post on your own blog.  Howard Dean was in Denver yesterday and he recorded a video message introducing the State Blogger corps.

(from an e-mail I received)

Here's the video clip:

We've asked for credentials for three people, total.  Hopefully all three of us will get credentialed.  We'll keep you posted.

If they've got the tech infrastructure set up in the Pepsi Center, I'd like to webcast live video feeds from the convention floor, kind of like what we did from the North Dakota convention in Grand Forks.  I'd also like to do little video interviews and see if I can get delegation members to volunteer to write diary-like entries to tell us about their experiences at the convention and in Denver.

I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to get to Denver.  There's been some talk of possibly car-pooling.  If anybody out there has any interest in carpooling down to Denver, let me know.

For the record
written by Chet, May 14, 2008, 02:41 PM
I don't have much of a say over the ads that show up in some of the spots on here. (Although I think I could figure out how to block it, if it's too offensive for your sensitive eyes.) As long as you guys are clicking on them, I'm not going to take them down.

And, also for the record, Deb's weekend diversion request last week was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEccxPPwXmI. [Shoot. The link doesn't work. Deb? Can you give me a new, good link?] Can I see a show of hands from you folks to let me know whether I should have posted it? What do you think?

If people are clicking on sugardaddie.com enough to keep it up as the main banner sponsor on the front page, people ought to like this video.

And if anyone wants to stake me, this artist is playing at the Fargo Dome on my birthday. Floor seats are only $95. I'd really, really appreciate itsmilies/smiley.gif

But first Chet, congrats, have a great time in Denver! What a time you will have. Can't wait for your coverage. Make sure to tell me how much charisma Obama has.

So many comments Deb.

I thought I knew you.

She needs a new sugar daddy.

She's got...

What is that some kind of freaky woman empowerment video?

I feel safer not living in your town. Not sure I want to live in the same state. Damn sure I don't want to wrong you.

Hey Deb...
written by I have issues, May 15, 2008, 07:25 AM
...my birthday weekend too. I have two tickets and am taking my daughter. Ticket sales are pretty slow so my guess, if they dont start selling fast, it will be yet another cancelled concert. Kinda frustrating that I paid nearly $200 for two tickets (great seats) and now Y94/ticketmaster are selling $25 cheap seats. smilies/cool.gif

How could sales be sluggish for Kanye? People just don't KNOW! It should have been at the HUB, thought - it'd be sold out by now.

Hey Deb...

I will adopt you only if you come with health insurance and a reference for your cleaning credentials !! smilies/wink.gif

Seriously, I think that Kanye is not sold out because:

1) It is memorial weekend, and;
2) That Sunday is also high school graduation for many of North Dakota's schools.

The Fargodome should have thought a little harder before scheduling this concert.

Two times in the last few years we have had great concert seats and the concert was cancelled. First, Aerosmith, second, the Dixie Chicks...anyone want to wager Kanye is third?

I went to the ticketmaster website and you can seill get lower level row c seats in the closest riser section to the stage and for really close up front on the floor.

Too bad, I was looking forward to this one. I like a lot of different music. According to the daughter (she is 15), Kanye is "too cool" for you mom!! smilies/cool.gif

you're right issues
written by Deb, May 15, 2008, 08:00 PM
I bet that's why it's struggling to sell out. I was thinking all day "we're not even ready for a black musician -- how can we be ready for a black president?!?!" *phew* Memorial day to the rescue!

My nieces, also 15, introduced me to this new Kanye record - I lost him after "high school drop out." This new album is amazing, imho.

And, so you're a memorial weekend baby too, eh? So you're used to sharing your birthday with every graduation, wedding and vacation too?? I haven't seen my parents on my birthday since my bro had kids.

BUT HEY - PARTY @ THEIR HOUSE NEXT WEEKENDsmilies/smiley.gif I'll be spinning Kanye all night smilies/cool.gif

I know...
written by Chet, May 21, 2008, 06:21 PM
I know this is going to really bum one or two of you out, but Kanye's Fargo concert has been canceled.

Fans in Fargo, North Dakota will miss the chance to see superstar rapper Kanye West on his critically acclaimed "Glow in the Dark" tour, as the date in the city has been canceled.

West was supposed to play The Fargo Dome this Sunday (May 25), but promoters said the date has been canceled due to West's hectic travel schedule, as well as low ticket sales.

Promoters said they were worried about the date from the start, as the rapper performs in Chicago on Saturday, and Winnipeg on Monday.

The show, which is hauled around from state-to state by 15 trucks, also suffered from poor ticket sales in Fargo.
