[UPDATED X 1]
[UPDATE #1: Caution: The following is a flippin' April Fools Day gag.] BREAKING NEWS!!!!! This is just unbelieveable. I thought the Democratic-NPL convention this weekend in Grand Forks couldn't possibly get any better. But it has!!! The Democratic-NPL party has announced British rock band U2 will play during an intermission at the Democratic NPL convention in Grand Forks on Friday night. Here's the press release: BISMARCK – April 1 - The Democratic-NPL Party has announced that British pop band U2, fronted by international philanthropist Bono, will be tentatively playing at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 4 as a part of the party’s state convention. “Faced with an hour or so of downtime between Senator Obama's speech and Senator Clinton's speech, we contacted Bono's management and invited Bono and his band to perform. We discussed the North Dakota Republican-led legislature's snubbing, during the last legislative session, of a resolution honoring Bono for his humanitarian work, and Bono's management was excited to make tentative plans to have the band perform. We will be very excited if U2 is able to perform at our convention in Grand Forks,” said Jamie Selzler, Democratic-NPL executive director. “Having two Democratic presidential candidates attend our state convention, with U2 performing in between, is a dream convention.” The band, on a break from touring since December of 2006, is hoping to perform a short acoustic set. Tickets for Sen. Barack Obama’s speech at 5:30 p.m. can be used to attend the U2 performance and the Clinton event The Democratic-NPL Party’s convention starts Friday and ends Sunday afternoon.
Many of you probably recall Rep. Scot Kelch's (D-Fargo) effort to honor Bono during the legislative session. He says, "This is something that does matter to us as citizens of North Dakota, the United States, and the world at large." But the motion was defeated 50-35, with some members of the House confused by the proposal - thanks to the Bono name. Republican Representative GIL HERBEL admits he initially though the resolution referred to the late SONNY BONO, singer and fellow Republican congressman. He explains, "When I saw the resolution, I was looking for CHER’s name in there." PR-inside.com
I can't believe this. This is going to be the best political convention, ever. (CLICK HERE FOR THE REST OF THE STORY ON THIS)
