FARGO - Call it the curious case of the retouched photo. An eagle-eyed Forum employee recently noticed something strange about a background photo used during weather segments of KVLY-TV/KXJB-TV Valley News Live. In the image depicting downtown Fargo, the white sign atop The Forum’s five-story building appears blank. This is odd, because The Forum’s sign – a 60-foot beacon that’s been a landmark in Fargo for nearly 90 years – has black letters on all sides spelling out the newspaper’s name. F-O-R-U-M. All five of them. At night, they light up. Yet in the image used by Valley News Live, there is a fuzzy, letter-free rectangle jutting into the sky above the newspaper’s building. So... of course the Forum sent its top investigative reporter out to drill down deep into this scandal and uncover the sort of hard news story Forum reporters love to dig their teeth into. See, there isn't anything going on in the Capitol Building right now worth looking into. There aren't elected officials writing on their Facebook walls about secret, illegal meetings going on in the Capitol Building. Because, surely, if there were, that would not be news. And there aren't elected officials lining up to cut state tax dollar checks to out-of-state oil companies. And there aren't efforts to make it harder to hold elected officials who do illegal stuff accountable. If those things were happening, the Forum wouldn't have the resources to send their best jounalists out to cover controversial news stories like the great KVLY sign scandal.

... Does the Forum even try anymore? KVLY does 6:30 POV. Since Terry Dullum left WDAZ you can't even laugh at anything ForumComm does. It's just too pathetic. Maybe if The Forum bought ads for its newspaper on KVLY instead of just antagonizing them, there wouldn't be anything to be upset about. |

And, that's not all that's not happening in Bismarck There's no effort at all to control women's lives and reproductive rights; no one out there is trying to shut down North Dakota women's access to fully legal medical services; and for sure no one is trying to outlaw in vitro fertilization by which couples unable to conceive a child get help from science and are able to create a family. |

Mississippi and North Dakota Does anyone expect anything other than that from the Foolum and Teabune? Really? The Right-wing nut jobs in ND legislature have managed to pass 2 anti-abortion bills that are almost carbon copies of the bills in the Mississippi legislature. God, isn't it great to be compared with and aligned with Mississippi! ND legislature gives tax breaks and incentives to oil companies and businesses, but can't give milk to poor children. They spend their time trying to figure out how to control women's reproductive rights and their bodies. They are an embarrassment!!!!! Sitte and Grande-North Dakota's answer to Michelle Bachmann> |

... If we were ever in need of of a free press, it is now. And not likely. I just got a copy of the new Great Plains Examiner. My worst fears have been realized. What is always amazing to me is that the fools in charge of the right wing assualt have no clue that they are no more than schills and pawns being used by the elite to further the agenda of stealing the rest of our nation. Mississippi? It appears the ND has surpassed them and the complete brain dead nonsense is in total control here. Jack and his buddies must have an ongoing chuckle at how the reap the benefits obtained by the Sitte's and Grande's. I am ashamed of my own state. Not to mention the insanity coming from my Church. For certain, the beliefs of our Founder's were right. A free press is essential. A complete separation of Church and State is mandatory. The 2 party system is doing great damage to the Republic. Eternal vigilance is required. I hope we become ready to fix this soon. |

... So true Big Jack! Our legislature is the best that money and right-wing idealogues can buy. If there is a whacky idea out there, it winds up as a bill in in the ND legislature. It is shameful how the Republicans and the press in this state pander to those nut jobs. Barely any discussion on either side of the legislature as they rammed those abortion bills through. Hardly any coverage of it in either the TEABUNE or the FOOLEM, much less even the media. I too am ashamed of my home state and how the wing-nuts of the Republican party have taken over control of it despite what Uncle Al may say. Or only hope is hopefully repeal these laws through the initative process and they want to make that even harder. One party rule for you. And where are the oppossing voices to be heard? |

... Anyone know if John is real or spambot? I'd hate to waste a witty rejoinder on a spambot. |
