If you are a registered user at the Minneapolis Star Tribune website, you can look through 599 of the more than 5,000 contested/disputed Coleman/Franken ballots and decide for yourself. I've gone through the first 100 ballots. I give 37 to Coleman, 44 to Franken and 19 to someone else or nobody. If it were rational to project those forward -- i.e. if you gave Coleman 37% of the 5,000+ votes and Franken 44% of those votes -- Franken wins this race. Now, what we don't know is whether there was anything "random" or "random-sample-like" about the first 100 ballots at the Strib website. Maybe they all came from a Democratic-leaning county. Maybe they all came from a Republican-leaning county. Here are five (5) ballots I've selected (not at random) so you can see some of the "contested/disputed" ballots they're dealing with in Minnesota: ![]() ![]() ![]() These ballots all seem pretty clear. A lot of them aren't so clear. I'm not neutral or unbiased about this particular race. Al Franken comes to politics with the baggage of having been a comedian who said some things that weren't very funny, some of which were recorded. I think Franken is smart. I think he has a lot to offer to Minnesota and America. I like Al. I'd like to see him win. Click here to go take the challenge and let me know if you get similar results.

Close as ever My 100 survey turned out 40 Franken, 40 Coleman, 20 spoiled or other. Why does every ballot have the same candidate order? Don't they rotate ballot positions in Minnesota? |
