(Source) Note the time and date on that. November 5th at 3:55 p.m. Later, Silver bumped Berg's odds up to 92%. But, to be honest, the bet wouldn't have been fair. I had the distinct advantage of having been privy to internal polling results from a pollster who probably knows North Dakota politics better than any other pollster on the planet, and Silver included two ridiculous Fargo Forum/Essman polls in his statistical modelling. It was not a fair bet. Silver never had a chance. I gotta say this, too: I had the opportunity, yesterday, to be a part of an amazingly talented, intelligent, good-humored team, working on this election. The team I was working with had the pleasure of interacting with county auditors and their staffs in a bunch of counties. With very few exceptions, those auditors were consumate professionals. ****************** I want to take this opportunity to extend a special "Good Morning" to RickBergRules this morning. Nate taken down Jon Stewart razzed Silver on the Daily Show about his blown call in the ND Senate race. Silver responded along the lines that if the polls you have to look at are crappy, so are your predictions. Heidi should thank the Forum for its crappy polling -- it made Berg supporters over-confident. |
