Heidi Heitkamp Not Running For U.S. Senate PDF Print E-mail
Written by Chet

The National Journal's hotline blog is reporting Heidi Heitkamp is out.

Ex-ND AG Heidi Heitkamp (D) will announce today she will not run for the seat being vacated by Sen. Byron Dorgan (D), according to Dem sources.

Heitkamp's decision is another blow to Dems, who were stunned when Dorgan said in Jan. he would not run for another term. After Dorgan's announcement, Gov. John Hoeven (R) said he would jump into the race, giving GOPers one of their best shots at picking up a seat.

Hotline On Call

Well, there you have it.  It's a done deal.  John Hoeven -- our socialist banking heir, do-nothing, coward of a governor -- is our next U.S. Senator.  It's inevitable.

I'll be watching the mailbox to see when I get my invitation to the coronation.

[UPDATE:  Listen to Heitkamp talk about her intentions on KFGO.com at 10:35 a.m. CST today. on KFGO.com]

Oh yeah?
What are you going to do about it, Mr. Sorum? Are you suggesting you're going to be the next senator?

Hoeven has the support of the corporatist establishment Republicans. He's a former Democrat, socialist banking heir with millions at his disposal. The Republican Party is hosting high-dollar fundraisers for him in Washington, D.C. Hoeven just did a $40,000 media buy. The media is so afraid of him that they're afraid to utter his name when (sort of) criticizing him in op/ed pieces. He's using state-owned aircraft to flit around the state campaigning. He has the audacity to bounce his campaign manager between his official, tax-dollar-funded state government staff and his campaign staff and the media is too stupid, too lazy, or too scared to say anything about it.

What do you have going for you, Mr. Sorum? A thousand teabaggers? It'll be a matter of days or hours (and not weeks or months) before the teabaggers all abandon any "principals" they pretend to have as they jump on the Hoeven bandwagon.

You might as well fold up your tent now, Mr. Sorum. You've got no chance.
