LTNI will not blog about how offended I am by the Westboro Baptist Church's protest of Natasha Richardson's funeral. They need to be ignored.

Sorry
I can't help it. I have to do this.

Read the press release I downloaded from the Westboro Baptist Church's website. Their URL is "GodHatesFags.com." Click here to read their classy press release.

It is troubling that people would claim to do this sort of thing in the name of Christianity.

What can you say to people this messed up?

Teaching Hate makes me sick
I don't know why, but I looked at their website. I have never seen so much hate. The site says God hates you? I am sickened by the fact they are calling themselves people of God and they are teaching hate. Just a quick review of the picketing schedule and the quotes they perversely use to justify their hate is disturbing.

I don't know what to say about people that are so messed up. I know a lot of Christians, some of them over the top and half nuts, but even on their worst days they don't hate like the Westboro wackjobs. Even my over-zealous Christian friends don't hate like this. Yes, they think that being gay is a choice and hate the lifestyle but not the people themselves.

I left my former church because they were teaching hate to my children but it was subtle and not the blatant hate I saw on that website.

I am sorry that some people think the way they do. The God that I know loves everyone, no matter who they are and what they have done. That is what I have taught my kids and that is what I believe.

Serious question.
We hear people talking about the base of the Republican party. Palin was nominated to excite "the base." McCain changed his positions to satisfy "the base." "The base" isn't often defined. So I'm wondering: Are these people -- these hateful nutjobs -- the ones who are referred to as the base of the Republican party? Are these the people the Republicans think they need to pander to, to get elected? I assume not; I hope not. But I'm genuinely curious.

I will not blog about the hate spewing from the Daily Kos. I will not blog about the hate spewing from the Daily Kos. I will not blog about the hate spewing from the Daily Kos.

And I don't condone the Westboro Baptist Church and yet I think they are more hateful than the Daily Kos.

Doug Ridley - don't forget that one of the libs favorites in DC (Robert Byrd) was a grand master of the KKK - I guess you say are sying that Robert Byrd is one sick person.

Truth's hate.
Truth. There are usually 15 to 20 posts on the front page of DailyKos, at any given time. I haven't even gone over there to look (tonight), but I don't usually see hate over there like you'd find if you went to most of the conservative blogs. I'd invite you to go over to DailyKos and find one hateful thing in any of the 18 major posts (many with numerous sub-topics) on the front page of DailyKos. Give me a link. Give me one example. That's your assignment for the day.

When I went and looked earlier today, I didn't see one. Maybe you'll find one when you look. Either way, I'm really interested in knowing what kind of hateful stuff you're talking about.

Marty. Yours is a good question. I'm not sure what the answer is.

This is apparently the site that Truth says hates:
Try finding this weekly diary on Westboro Baptist's site, or any number of other conservative sites:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/...r-military

how about this offshoot of DailyKos?

http://www.streetprophets.com/

or this one?

http://www.mothertalkers.com/

Or how about these regular posts? Hateful indeed:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/...-Oh,-My!!!

The community polices "hate" pretty well. The site is an open forum so yeah, it gets away sometimes, but overall, DailyKos is a community. I urge you to follow it for a month and tell me that DailyKos is a hateful site that can ever be even closely compared to the hate that spews out of every corner of Westboro Baptist Church.

I have seen countless diaries people wrote of their hardships(people loosing their job, losing their house, losing a loved one, etc) to be surrounded by the DailyKos community with an outpouring of kind comments and sympathies.

there is one thing we do hate. we hate conservative policy. we don't hate conservatives, but we are against the policies that the right wing puts out, and we are tired of democratic capitulation to those policies. By and large, we don;t hate conservatives themselves. When Arlen Specter went in for chemotherapy again the message from us was "Godspeed".

That is not hate, that is public discourse, which always gets a little rough and tumble.

Reminds me of my favorite bumper sticker:

"The Christian Right---they're neither."

I tried to give up making fun of these nuts for lent, but I have failed, it is just too much fun.

New one: The world will end on May 21, 2011, 4:30 pm, Pacific standard time----it's in the bible----I'm still looking.

Just for fun watch Bill Maher's dvd--"Religulous"----funny as hell and really insightful---not just a rant. Good food for thought.
