Finally Harry Reid Supports Filibuster Reform PDF Print E-mail

Harry Reid finally has had it up to here with Republican obstruction in the Senate.

After a frustrating exchange on the reauthorization of the Export-import bank, a compromise bill that sailed through the house 330-93 under suspension of the rules, Harry Reid finally understands that the goal of Senate Republicans is to stop the Senate from being able to operate.

"“If there were ever a time when Tom Udall and Jeff Merkley were prophetic, it’s tonight."

Reid is referring to the effort by the Senators from New Mexico and Oregon to change the Senate rules at the beginning of the session by majority vote.  That effort was stalled by leadership in both parties and resulted in some trimming around the edges, but left intact the ability of a Senator to bring the body to a screeching halt at a moment's notice.

Lets hope he keeps this exchange in mind come next fall if he remains Majority Leader.
