David Gregory to take the chair of Meet the Press PDF Print E-mail
Written by Adam

From Politico

NBC News plans to name David Gregory as moderator of “Meet the Press,” infusing one of television’s most prized franchises with a sharp edge leavened by a youthful style and versatility, according to network executives.

...

The plan to anoint Gregory is not final but will be as soon as today, the executives said. NBC spokespeople refused to comment, saying the network would make the announcement.

The decision was made by Jeff Zucker, president and chief executive officer of NBC Universal, and Steve Capus, president of NBC News.

As NBC’s chief White House correspondent, Gregory has been a dogged — occasionally prickly — questioner of both the president and his press secretaries. The perceived tension benefited both sides, and Gregory maintained productive relations with senior officials

I think that Gregory isprobably the rightchoice to fill Russert's shoes.  He's no Tim Russert, but there's nobody else that is.  Gregory is smart and while I don't like him as a pundit on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I think he made a good guest moderator and I always figured that when Russert retired that David would take the job of Meet the Press.  It just seems to fit.  Now what to do with the 4:00 and 6:00 slots on MSNBC.  My guess is that David Schuster will probably get his own show.  He auditioned for it two weeks ago while Olbermann took the week off.  I would love to see Allison Stewart get offered the job, though.  That's just me.  Schuster has been waiting longer.  Allison will be the guest host for Countdown again, though.

Regardless, the new Ministry of Truth will have a good lineup of "hate-filled liberals" to skew the news.

Chuck Todd would have been far better... he would have worked harder and his analysis is far superior to pretty boy, Davide Gregory

Chuck Todd has great analysis...
but the moderator of Meet The Press asks the questions, and Gregory is known to be quite aggressive with his questioning.
