All told, the rally was a great success. The Big Dog was great. This is a pretty big deal. You can probably count on one hand the number of times any president: past, present, or future, has come to North Dakota. It shows the strength of Heidi's campaign, and the excitement Democrats have in winning this race. So you can imagine my surprise when I found this headline from KVRR (the local FOX affiliate for Fargo): Popular Politician Backing Area Democrats Former President Bill Clinton took the stage in Fargo to generate support for the Democratic Party. ...[etc] KVRR REALLY!?!? Way to bury the lede there folks! There are lots of popular politicians who back area Democrats in North Dakota. It's not like this one happens to be a former President of the United States, or that he was holding a rally for a U.S. Senate in a close race a week before the election. I seriously did not realize what this headline was talking about until I read the first line of the article. That's pretty bad journalism. This is a once in a LONG time event for North Dakota to have a former President campaign for a candidate, (as an aside, I think the last time this happened was also for Heidi in 2000). Let's see Rick Berg get George W. Bush to come hold a rally for him and get the same headline. Scratch that. Not even that most generic headline would apply to Bush. They would need to delete the word, "Popular." Stay classy, ND media, stay classy.

... I think people showed up to see Slick Willy, not Heidi. And on top of that, the only reason he did come to North Dakota is because he was stumping in MN today. If he didn't have the trip to MN planned there is no way he would have showed up in ND> |
